Liam is a 20-year-old student enrolled in a career planning class at a local community college. He plans to transfer to the university to complete his 4-year degree but is undecided about his major. He has experience volunteering at a local nursing home, which he enjoys, but is unsure if he should pursue a job in the medical field or in the business field. After taking the SDS as part of his class assignments, Liam learned that his Summary Code is CSE (Conventional, Social, and Enterprising). Using his customized interactive report, he was able to learn more about the outlook and education required for his occupational matches. He could even compare real-time salary data for different occupations. After spending time learning more about his options, Liam decided he preferred the accounting field as opposed to the medical setting. As a final project for his class, Liam wrote a strategic career plan in which he noted that becoming a CPA was the goal he now wanted to pursue. He outlined a specific plan for declaring Accounting as his major, meeting with his advisor, and obtaining an internship with a local accounting firm.
